RASHEED AKBAR has been a long time musician in the city of New Orleans for 30 years. Known as the "Ambassador of Decatur Street," before Katrina you could always see Rasheed playing World Famous Café Du Monde with his street entertainment series "Easy Street." He has also played with some of the best brass bands known to the city of New Orleans such as The Original Royal Players, Mohagany Brass Band, James Andrews Band, Kirk Joseph and the Backyard Groove, The New Orleans Jazz Ramblers , The New Orleans All-Stars , and The Eureka Brass Band. Rasheed has performed at world famous Preservation Hall and recently at New Orleans Jazzfest 2008. Rasheed now needs a liver transplant.
